Bangladesh Media Monitor
BDMM is an independent media watchdog and think tank focused on content analysis, propaganda monitoring and journalist safety tracking within the media environment.
Bangladesh Media Monitor offers an opportunity to contribute to independent media observation and research. By joining, participants gain hands-on experience in content analysis, propaganda monitoring and journalist safety documentation. It provides a platform to develop research skills, understand how media narratives shape public perception, and work with a network of journalists, researchers and students committed to transparency and accountability in the information environment.
How We Defend Truth
Content Analysis
We analyze news reports, television talk shows, video reports, headlines, visual materials and news-related content shared on digital platforms. This analysis examines patterns of news presentation, language use, source transparency, framing techniques and narrative construction. The objective is to understand how information is structured and presented in the media, and to identify potential patterns of bias or influence.
Information Warfare
We monitor information warfare across media and digital platforms, analyzing propaganda, disinformation, narratives and co-ordinated influence operations. Through research, media monitoring and training courses, we build awareness and capacity to identify information manipulation, critically assess media content and understand how information is strategically used to shape public opinion, political discourse and democratic processes.
Safety Tracker
We document attacks, threats, arrests, legal harassment and other risks faced by journalists across Bangladesh. These incidents are recorded in a structured database to track patterns and trends in journalist safety. The collected data supports research, policy discussions and accountability efforts related to press freedom and journalist protection. It also helps identify areas where journalists face increasing pressure.
Investigate
Investigative research on key issues related to the media sector. This includes examining structural aspects such as corporate business interests, media licensing processes, financial transparency and potential editorial capture within media institutions. Using evidence-based documentation and research methods, these investigations aim to better understand the influence, risks and operational dynamics within the media environment.
